The Ghost Map

The Ghost Map: The Story of London's Most Terrifying Epidemic--and How It Changed Science, Cities, and the Modern World - Steven Johnson A fascinating story, but a difficult read. I was very interested in learning how the Cholera outbreak was traced back to its source. To a certain extent I was interested in learning about how Londoners lived in the era. Unfortunately, the book can't seem to stay in one place for very long. It switches from the bits that advance the story, which are interesting, to long diatribes concerning the state of life for the poor at that time. These sections seem very repetitive, and do not advance the story. It definitely could have used some serious editing, and if that had occurred it would have rated more stars.
